Lead Correspondent


The Organization for World Peace (OWP) is seeking Lead Correspondents to track and report current events on trending international stories relating to peace, conflict and security. This position requires a candidate with strong research and writing skills, a good understanding of effective reporting techniques, and the ability to identify and gather evidence pertaining to international current events. The Lead Correspondent will work in consultation with the President of the Organization for World Peace to select headline topics, which will be the subject of the OWP’s strategic focus on live-breaking stories. This is an ongoing position within the OWP.

About the role

Lead Correspondents are expected to:

  • Submit bi-weekly articles to the OWP pertaining to selected trending topics in international affairs.
  • Research a variety of topics related to peace and conflict. This includes collecting information and data on these topics and translating this in an effective and engaging content for the OWP’s audience.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings.
  • Possibility for participation on the Peace Production (OWP’s Podcast).
  • Commit approximately 5 hours per week to accomplish duties.

Requirements

Completion of Junior Correspondent, Junior Editor, or Junior Media and marketing internship within the Organization for World Peace, or equivalent experience within another organization.

Essential

  • Recent graduates and undergraduates currently enrolled in degree programs that involve journalism and communications, International Relations, political science, or other relevant fields;
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct careful research regarding current events;
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Excellent written communication and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to identify active trends in international affairs;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
